The film tells the story of banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) and his friends, who were imprisoned for nearly 20 years in Shawshank State Prison for murdering his wife despite being innocent. Dufresne, who made close friendships with fellow inmates Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman) during his stay in prison, begins to help the prison manager's money laundering activities thanks to his banking knowledge.
