There is probably no more important piece of advice to a writer than this: Don't write a single line that doesn't give you great pride.

If one's ability to endure one's own calamity is the greatest skill, the greater skill is to be able to share the calamity of others.

Do not cut the rope that you can untie… Close your eyes, you will see.

Hope is a debt of happiness.

Imagination is the eye of the soul.
