Butterfly Effect

Lorenz was doing the iterations on the computer to simplify the Navier-Stroke equation in mathematics, but to predict the still non-linear function. As a result of the command given to the computer to round the air temperature value of 15,4086 degrees to three digits after the decimal point, this figure was taken into account as 15,409. Therefore, there was a difference of 0.004 degrees. This value, which was thought to be a difference that would not affect the result much, on the contrary, made a huge difference in the result. This difference of 0.004 degrees corresponds to the change that a butterfly placed in a room can create in the speed of the air with its body temperature or flapping its wings. In this way, this extreme sensitivity to the initial value became known as the "butterfly wing effect" thereafter. Thus, the saying, “If a butterfly flaps its wings in China, a typhoon will occur in New York,” used when discussing the Chaos Theorem, emerged.
