MEVLANA CELALEDDİN-İ RUMİ
(30 Eylül 1207 – 17 Aralık 1273)
Be quiet like a book in the presence of an ignorant person.
(Be as quiet as a book, when you are with the ignorant.)
Bilgi, sınırı olmayan bir denizdir,
bilgi dileyense denizlere dalan bir dalgıçtır.
(Knowledge is an endless sea,
the one who seeks knowledge is adiver in that sea.)
Aşk, akıl ve can! Bu üçü üçgendir.
Her derde çare, her yaraya merhemdir.
(Love, wisdom, and soul! These three are a triangle,
they are a remedy for every single wound…!)
Her şeye doğru demek ahmaklıktır.
Fakat her şeye yanlış demek de zorbalıktır.
(Accepting everything as thrut is foolishness,
but, as suming everything as false is thranny.)
Nefis, üç köşeli dikendir, ne türlü koyarsan batar.
(Ego is thorn with three tips,
on matter how you put it, it pricks.)
Ya olduğun gibi görün, ya da göründüğün gibi ol!
(Either seem as you are or be as you seem.)
Yüzün rengi kalplerin casusudur.
(The color of the face, is the spy of hearts.)
Bir kimseyi tanımak istiyorsan çevresindeki arkadaşlarına bak.
(If you want to know a person,
look at the people around him.)
Nice insanlar gördüm üstlerinde elbise yok,
nice elbiseler gördüm içinde insan yok.
(I saw many people with no clothes on,
and I saw many clothes with no people in them.)
Kusursuz dost arayan dostsuz kalır.
(The one who seeks a faultless friend, will be left friendless.)
Bir şeyi bulunmadığı yerde aramak onu aramamak demektir.
(Seeking something where it doesn’t exist, is not seeking.)
Gel ! gene gel, gene
Ne olursan ol,
İster kafir ol,
İster ateşe tap, ister puta,
İster yüz kere bozmuş ol tövbeni,
Umutsuzluk kapısı değil bu kapı,
Nasılsan öyle gel.
(Come! come, whoever you may be,
Whether a heathen, an idolater, a fire worshipper,
Or a denier hundred oats, come!
This is not the door of despair,
Come as you are…!)
Ne ben benim, ne sen sensin, ne de sen bensin…
Hem ben benim, hem sen sensin, hem sen bensin.
Dostum, ben senim, sen de bensin… Beri gel beri…daha da beri. Değil mi ki sen bensin, ben de senim. Peki nedir şu senlik, benlik?
Ya tutulacak kadar yakın ol ya da unutulacak kadar uzak..!
