Ayvazovsky Waves in the Sea of Life
What do you see when you look at this picture? Carefully examine the picture and try to express the effect it has in a few words. What we see when we look at the world is not very different. I met Ivan Ayvazovski, known as the painter of the stormy seas, thanks to this picture. In a period when I made a postcard collection during secondary school years, I met this picture and I was admired at first. This work, which was painted by the artist in 1850, is called “Ninth Wave”. And he describes the struggle for survival of sailors who survived a sinking ship. More in the video below ..
