10 Practical Ways to Increase Motivation on the Holiday Return

Holiday returns are always difficult. It's not easy to stay motivated for work in the first few days, especially after a long vacation. Still, there is something we can do. Here in this article, we cover practical ways to make vacation return more motivated. While all these suggested methods are beneficial for everyone, a few of them will appeal to you more.

Tatil Dönüşü Motivasyonu Artırmanın 10 Pratik Yolu

1- Make a Schedule

The first thing you can do after your vacation is to make a weekly work schedule. Jobs left unfinished before the holiday and the tasks left after the holiday put an extra stress on us. And because we don't know where to start, we are tossed around all day. At this point, it would be useful to devote the first hours of the morning to programming in the context of time management. Take a pen and paper in front of you and make a schedule that shows you what, when and how much you will do during the week. This will give you a good roadmap.

2- Prioritize Jobs

After making your weekly schedule, rank only the tasks you will do that day in order of importance. Jobs left unfinished before the holidays are the hardest to start. Divide each one into small pieces and determine how much you can finish as of that day. And at the end of the day, make sure you only complete that much. Finish what you have finished, leave the rest for the next day. You couldn't have done any better than that.

3- Do Only One Thing

Dealing with just one thing makes a huge difference. However, this competence has become unusable due to the stimuli that will prevent this in daily life. So it takes some effort to reactivate it. After following the steps mentioned in the first two items, what you need to do is to focus on the first job in the list you have determined in order of importance. You have to forget everything else and give all your energy to just that job. Mute your phone if necessary. Isolate yourself from anything that distracts you. Don't worry about anything else until you complete that task. The more you get results from that job, the better you will feel.

4- Visualize The Moment You Have Finished

At this stage, you can harness the power of creative imagination. Try to visualize the relief you will experience when you finish the tasks that you are bored or have difficulty starting. This is a very effective method. Close your eyes for a few minutes and imagine yourself in a movie. See that you get that result you want and experience it with all your feelings. Your motivation will increase.

5- Be Flexible

You may find it difficult for the first few days to cope with the sluggishness of the holiday. Try to remind yourself often that everyone faces a similar challenge. Be kind to yourself first and then to others. Being flexible will reduce the pressure on you. Just like a willow tree, don't resist the wind, let yourself go and stretch with it.

6- Turn the First Day into Your Advantage

As your daily routines change during the holidays, the biggest challenge on returning will be to adjust to work routines again. It is normal to have insomnia in the morning of the first day. And towards the evening, you may find it difficult to cope with the weakness it gives. However, if you are mentally prepared for this situation, you can turn it into an advantage. For this, you can take nutritional supplements to support your energy. If you can, go outside once in a while and fill your lungs with lots of fresh air. If you work at a desk, being on the move will do you good.

7- Remember Your Dreams and Goals

Another challenge after a vacation is being far from your goals. Why are you working in this job? What goals are you pursuing? What are the contributions of your job to you? How important is your job to achieving your life's worthwhile goals? It may be good for you to remember the answers to all these questions again. Also, keeping in mind pictures and items that will remind you of your long-term career goals will remind you of the meaning of your job in your life.

8- Don't Forget To Have Fun

Making your job fun in general, not just after your vacation, is an effective way to stay motivated. When you break the monotony at work and find a way to work in a pleasant way, you can eliminate the problems you experience after the holiday. For this, try to focus on the enjoyable aspects of your job. If necessary, update the way you do business and highlight the aspects that bring you joy. As Dale Carnegie said; people who don't have fun at what they do are rarely successful.

9- Make Your Business Valuable

Many people are not fully aware of the value of their work. Because working in a limited field of expertise inevitably causes a blindness towards the whole of the work and its outputs. Trying to see the true value of your work will strengthen your positive attitude towards work. When you return from vacation, try to evaluate your work from this perspective. Evaluate his contribution to the world and to all humanity with a new eye. Feeling like an important person working at an important job will motivate you. In the words of Marcel Proust, “True exploration does not require reaching new places, it is sufficient to have new eyes.”

10- Your Motivational Power is Hidden in the Way You Talk

Remember the last time you talked to yourself. What did you say? How do you usually communicate with yourself? Do you speak positively or negatively most of the time? Your inner conversations affect your personal motivation more than you think. But most of the time you don't notice it. For example, on the day you come back from vacation, if you say to yourself what a boring job you do, that job becomes boring. But if you say you're going to have a great first day at work, your energy will skyrocket. The choice is yours!
